Jamie, a good friend of mine, approached me about designing her wedding invitations, and I was thrilled.
As my first real crack at this type of project, I was eager to sink my teeth into a style that is almost pure esthetic.
Jamie and Matt had the colours picked out, and I knew they liked the watercolour-esque look, it was just a matter of adapting it to a harvest palette.

These are various projects I have completed for Vision Critical. The first is an infographic illustrating how Corporate Messaging works.
The second is a banner ad to the Vision Critical Speed Campaign book, "The Quick and the Dead: A manifesto for change in consumer insight" by Ray Poynter.
And lastly, the book that I designed or completed.Advertising, Art Direction, Illustration2012 -

This project was a joy to work on. As you can see, the cover is an illustration of a goose, with typography. The Endpapers are a hand printed pattern that was appropriate for the mix of old and new, and the back has a simplified wing illustration.Crafts, Design, Illustration2011 -
St.Geneve approached me about rebranding them, and so my research began. Their customer profile is 70% female, 30% male and are 35-50 years old. To target them, I looked into the luxury life style and used French Art Nouveau to influence my direction. The first image is their current design.Advertising, Branding, Creative Direction2011 -

When the Boulder City Bombers approached me about branding them, I was so excited. Stylistically, roller derby is right up my alley and I hadn't even thought of it. The colour, grunge, and let's not forget the female form, were all there.
The only criteria I had were that the colours be green, black and yellow and they didn't want it to be too risqué.
The nature of roller derby logos made me call into question what a logo can be, and how complex can one be before it verges into other territory. In this project I explored a lesser taken path, and avoided the pin up style all together. I was inspired by hand-drawn cursive and industrialized type faces, creating both fonts myself.
I was also inspired by Old-school American tattoos as they draw on the rough vintage I know would appeal to the target audience.Branding, Graphic Design, Typography2012 -
After going through the Government of Canada's website devoted to Species at Risk, I discovered that they are in dire need of streamlining. I've taken a large quantity of their pages and put it all on an easy to understand poster. For more information on any one of these species, you can contact the Government of Canada.Design2011 -
I love infographics. They are informative, simple, and very practical. Usually they are used to show quantities in annual reports, or where to go in the airport. Here I pushed the concept of what infographics can really do.
It was important for me to be able to create something using symbolism that would make life easier for a child, or someone with English as a second language. In this example I created a simple recipe with as limited a vocabulary as possible.Art Direction, Digital Art, Information Architecture2012 -
